Our Teens Jiu-Jitsu Program
Teens classes (12 – 15yrs) provides formal instruction to mature primary and secondary school students.
The syllabus is typically 10 weeks in length aligning with Victorian school terms. Students within this group that display maturity and considered ‘advanced’ may be invited to join the adults class (this enables the teens to train over school holidays as the Academy does not train Juniors and Teens during this period). Teens classes cover basic to intermediate skills required to progress through the sport and also offer the opportunity to compete. The lessons are developed in such a way that the teens learn controlled aggression and humility, and also prepares them mentally for situations of conflict.
Although a contact sport, it is not a sport based around striking but more about control. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu provides a safe environment, which also challenges your child mentally and physically, shaping them to into responsible individuals both on and off the mat. Teens involved in this program learn how to react under pressure through techniques taught. This doesn't just stop in the Academy but extends to their life in general. The whole time I was there, the training was tops and the environment is very friendly, excellent place for people wanting to get into jiu jitsu. I 100% recommend this place to anyone. Mentoring program
Teens that train and show maturity have the opportunity to further develop in a mentoring program. How this works is that teens that demonstrate the attributes of the Academy, that being teamwork, respect, integrity and commitment may be asked to assist in coaching portions of the juniors classes to develop their confidence. These teens will also have the opportunity to join in the adults classes and work with the adults to further develop their own skills on the mat. Junior Elite Team
Participants in this age group have the opportunity to be selected in the de Been 100% Jiu Jitsu Junior Elite Team (JET). Teens selected for JET have the opportunity to represent not just de Been 100% Jiu Jitsu Academies, but also Australia on an international platform competing overseas in a major tournament. Teens are selected from within their respective de Been Academies and attend a weekend training camp at the de Been 100% Jiu Jitsu Headquarters, Saint Kilda. From this training camp successful athletes are selected, are sponsored by de Been 100% Jiu Jitsu for training, JET uniforms, competition entry costs and more!
